SUMMARY:The TOMFOOLERY Show\; Save the Town!!
DESCRIPTION:The Town Theatre was opened in 1946 and remained a single screen movie house until its closing in 2008. A small Mom & Pop theater showing foreign and independent films\, the Town Theatre was known for its intermissions where they often served free cake and coffee. The decor is Knights of the Round Table/Medieval. The long-term owners had to deal with family illness\, which led to its closure.\n\nIn 2012 the theatre was taken over by the town for nonpayment of back taxes. In September 2014\, a public meeting was held to debate the future of the theatre with hopes of restoration and reopening the building. In October 2014\, the Highland Town Council approved a measure to spare the theatre from the wrecking ball and moved to refurbish the structure. Now the work begins to generate the necessary funds to bring films as well as other various forms of casual entertainment back to the area.\n\nThe Town of Highland has teamed with Tom Byelick's TOMFOOLERY Show and is pleased to announce a completely unique event designed to entertain through music and comedy while raising some needed funds to refurbish the theatre!!\n\nThe TOMFOOLERY Show is a one-of-a-kind comedy-based variety show which features various types of comedy supplemented with music! Our custom-designed event will feature several hilariously funny and creative comedians as well as a full band to provide the musical variety throughout the evening!\n\nStandup comedians Gia Claire\, Lucky Luciano and Jay Washington will entertain us with their comedic antics and leave everyone doubled over with laughter! The Famous Brothers are incredibly talented and their unique blend of side-splitting humor and Kentucky bluegrass three-part harmony is like nothing else! This comedy is not to be missed!\n\nProviding the musical variety throughout the evening will be The Planetary Blues Band! This group of incredibly talented young musicians has performed on the same stage as the legendary Buddy Guy and they provide a concert within the show!\n\nPlease join us on Friday\, February 20 at the beautiful Wicker Park Social Center for an evening of fun to break the winter doldrums. Show tickets are priced at ONLY $25! \n\nDoors open at 7:30 PM and the show begins at 8:00 PM! Tickets for this event will sell out quickly\, therefore advanced purchases are STRONGLY encouraged. Tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite or at the Highland Town Hall. We'll see you on February 20\, 2015!!!
